An engagement photoshoot is the perfect time to get a little creative and have some fun.

My aim is to document the love and the unique relationship between you both.

Most guys don't enjoy having their photo taken but I want to say to you remember this is about the two of you. Just relax and have fun. Be yourself and let your personality show. It will mean so much to your fiancé and you might even find you enjoy the experience.

The first thing to think about is the location. I am more than happy to travel to a location of your choice.

Some suggestions to get you thinking:

  • Do you prefer the great outdoors or the city?
  • Is there a special cafe you always go to for Sunday morning coffee?
  • Is there a particular stretch of beach or park where you spend a lot of time?
  • Where did you go on your first date?
  • Where was your proposal?

You do not need to know how to pose.

You may not feel comfortable in front of the camera. My job is to make you feel comfortable

My goal is for you to have fun as well as have some gorgeous images.

We will get some basic traditional poses but once we've done those I will then direct you rather than pose you.

You don't have to be looking at the camera the whole time.

My aim is to capture the authentic relationship between you. So most images will be you looking at each other rather than the camera. Just be yourselves, laugh and have fun together.

The Time of Day

The time of day can make a huge difference to how your images turn out. Late afternoon or early morning on a sunny day is the best light. A cloudy day can produce dramatic photos and rain can make some very interesting images. If you have your heart set on a sunset though I am happy to reschedule if the weather is not what you want. Otherwise we can use the opportunity to get creative.

What to Wear

This is one of the first questions you will likely ask. The first and best answer is to wear something you feel AMAZING in! Nothing that is too tight. You want to be comfortable sitting or standing in whatever you decide to wear. In general, bold colors, whites and pastels photograph beautifully. Fun patterns work great too as long as they coordinate with each other.

Wardrobe do's and don'ts:

Do's: Fun simple patterns, summer dresses, heels and/or boots, bold colors, whites and pastels

Don't: Logos, overly busy patterns, oversized T-shirts, large stripes (horizontal or vertical)

Hair and Makeup

If you are having professional hair and makeup done for your wedding day, the engagement session is a perfect opportunity to do a trial run. You can see how it looks in photos, and will know if you wants to make any changes for your big day. Most professional makeup artists will do a test run, just to ensure their schedule will be on track when it comes to the big day.

Any Questions

How to use your Images

These images will look great printed.

But one way you can use them is to use them in your invitations and announcements about your wedding.

Finally

Don't overthink your session. The goal is for you me to capture the genuine, sincere love you have for each other. There is no need to force anything. Just be yourselves. Are you quiet introverts or the life of the party?

Your engagement Photoshoot is also a perfect time for you to become comfortable with me and my camera. We can practise poses that you may want to try on your wedding day. We can be creative but most of all it will be fun. It is a perfect opportunity for us to get to know each other.
